Social    Entrepreneur    Foundation

About S.E.F.

The Social Entrepreneur Foundation (SEF), launched in May 2008, is a Community Earth project whose mission it is to assist eligible social entrepreneurs with tools and access to funding in the form of a modest wage, aid in attaining project grants and facilitate sponsor involvement. This is done via a novel "peer support style" approach.

In order to be eligible, social entrepreneurs must prove to this foundation that their projects are action oriented and meet one or many of the following mandates: education, equality, ecological and economic sustainability or conflict management. They must also be willing to commit to its success.

The Social Entrepreneur Foundation…

  • Brings philanthropy to the general public by allowing all peoples to get involved in the projects,
  • Promotes projects that develop the potentials that exist so that communities continue to thrive once aid monies move on, i.e. generating self-sustainability,
  • Provides a direct communication channel between all sponsors and the social entrepreneur through private blog/forum pages,
  • Demands that social entrepreneurs provide monthly updates on progress,
  • Facilitates complete financial project transparencies,
  • Ensures no intermediaries exist (SEF charges no fees), allowing donations to go further in the field where it is most needed,
  • Will be applying for charity status (in Canada) so that sponsor donations can be used as tax deductions giving the general public more incentive to sponsor social entrepreneurs,
  • Allows sponsors the first chance to procure shares where investment is possible, if and when certain projects cease to be philanthropic, i.e. become sustainable green businesses or co-operatives.
